A young woman was swiftly taken to the hospital after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Birmingham. The incident occurred on Foxton Road in Alum Rock when the pedestrian was hit by a silver hatchback, thrown onto the road, and left unattended by the driver around 1:30 pm on Monday.
Witnesses observed the car not slowing down before colliding with the woman and then driving off without checking on her well-being. Passersby came to her aid as she sustained serious injuries from the accident.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided immediate care to the injured woman before transporting her to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment.
West Midlands Police have launched an investigation to locate the driver involved in the incident and have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. The authorities are seeking to identify the silver hatchback and its driver, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
In response to the incident, Zaheer Akbar from Alum Rock Community Forum and a local PCSO are initiating a ‘Speed Watch’ campaign to address the issue of reckless driving in the area, prompted by numerous complaints from residents.
