Former President Donald Trump has unveiled a new limited-edition US passport that features his image and signature, in a move seen as an ego boost. The US State Department had announced earlier that it would release these special passports to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Trump recently shared the design of the passport, along with a cautionary message.
Through a post on Truth Social, Trump revealed images of the passport, stating, “The USA’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!’ President DJT.” The exact location of the warning phrase “but be good” within the passport remains unspecified.
The displayed sample pages depict Trump in a commanding pose at his Oval Office desk, with elements of the Declaration of Independence in the background and his signature below. An earlier version of the passport showcased a different image of Trump against a US flag backdrop instead of the Declaration of Independence.
Another page features John Trumbull’s painting “The Declaration of Independence” with the inscription “United States of America 250” below it. This exclusive passport was initially introduced in April as part of the nation’s 250th-anniversary celebrations.
Initially promoted as a special edition passport to mark America’s 250th anniversary, the new US passport will be accessible to all American citizens who apply for it during the launch period, available at the Washington Passport Agency while supplies last.
These distinct passports are part of Trump’s unconventional approach to celebrating the 250th anniversary, including hosting a UFC fight at the White House South Lawn, which coincided with his 80th birthday. The event, described as a “gift to the American people,” required viewers to subscribe to Paramount+ for access.
The South Lawn gathering attracted around 4,300 attendees, including notable figures like British boxer Tyson Fury and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The 250th-anniversary festivities continue with plans for an Indycar grand prix in Washington in August and a grand fireworks display for the Fourth of July.
