Jailed former pop star Gary Glitter, a convicted paedophile, has recently been questioned by police regarding alleged sexual offenses involving a girl under the age of 14. The incidents are said to have taken place during the late 1970s and early 1980s at a residence in Kensington, west London. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd and is now 82 years old, was interviewed while in prison following a report made on January 9, 2025.
Currently incarcerated at HMP Channings Wood in Devon, Glitter was sentenced to 16 years in 2015 for the sexual abuse of three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980, with his release date set for 2031.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that an elderly man was questioned under caution in connection with the reported offenses in July 2025. The investigation remains ongoing, with specialized officers providing support to the victim. The police emphasized their commitment to listening to and assisting those reporting historical sexual offenses, highlighting increased efforts in safeguarding and victim support training.
Following his release from HMP The Verne in February 2023, Glitter was reincarcerated shortly after for breaching his license conditions by attempting to access the dark web and viewing illicit images of children. Despite his efforts to secure release through a parole review, he remains in custody.
Glitter’s prior convictions, stemming from Operation Yewtree, a police inquiry triggered by the Jimmy Savile scandal, came to light in 2015. He was the first individual arrested under this operation in 2012 at his London residence.
