“Urgent Recall: Portable Cot Poses Risk of Harm”

A portable cot highly sought after has been recalled urgently, issuing serious alerts to parents regarding the potential ‘risk of severe harm or fatality’.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has initiated a recall of the 5-in-1 nursery center portable cot due to safety concerns. This versatile cot, serving as a bassinet, bed, sleeper, baby crib, activity center, and changing table, is currently available for purchase on Amazon and Costway Wholesale. The cot poses entrapment and suffocation hazards, presenting a significant risk of injury or death if an infant is placed inside the product.

According to the ACCC, the cot does not meet the mandatory standards for infant sleep products, leading to the potential risk of serious harm or fatality due to entrapment or suffocation. A specific incident has been reported in relation to this issue.

Parents are advised to verify the model number or SKU on their products to check if it matches SKU: BB0505. If you have acquired a portacot with the mentioned SKU number, it is crucial to discontinue its use immediately. The recommended action is to return the cot to the original point of purchase to arrange for a free replacement.

In a separate development, a baby snowsuit has also been withdrawn from shelves due to a safety defect. The quilted snow suits, featuring pink florals and cream bears, were sold nationwide both online and in Best and Less stores between April 16 and June 11.

These snowsuits have been recalled due to a flaw in the snap fasteners, which may detach during use. There is a risk of choking and serious injury, or even death, if a child swallows the detached snap fastener from the snowsuit.

The affected SKUs for the recalled snowsuits are 1922326, 1922327, 1922328, 1922329, 1922330, 1922331 1922334, 1922335, 1922336, 1922337, 1922338, and 1922339. Consumers are advised to cease using the snowsuits immediately and ensure they are kept out of children’s reach.

Customers impacted by this recall can return the snowsuits to any Best and Less store for a full refund.
