Police Investigate Death at Sydney Care Home

Police have initiated an inquiry following the discovery of a deceased woman at a care home. Responding to a call at approximately 11:45 pm local time on Thursday, emergency services arrived at the Evans Road facility in Rooty Hill, Sydney. Subsequently, law enforcement officers found the body of an 84-year-old female inside one of the premises.

In the aftermath of this unexpected finding, authorities confirmed the apprehension of a 53-year-old woman, who is believed to have a relationship with the deceased octogenarian, at the location. The unidentified 53-year-old was escorted to Mount Druitt Hospital for evaluation, as stated by the police.

No additional information has been disclosed regarding the incident, but the police are urging individuals with relevant details to come forward. A spokesperson from the New South Wales Police mentioned, “An investigation is ongoing subsequent to the discovery of a woman’s body at a senior care facility in Sydney’s western region overnight.”

The official further elaborated, “Around 11:45 pm (Thursday, June 25, 2026), emergency services were summoned to a senior care facility on Evans Road, Rooty Hill, following reports of a woman’s body being located. Officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command attended the scene and found the deceased 84-year-old woman inside the building.”

“Following investigations, a 53-year-old woman—presumed to be acquainted with the 84-year-old—was arrested at the site and transferred to Mount Druitt Hospital for assessment,” the spokesperson added.

Law enforcement has cordoned off the area as a crime scene, and detectives have initiated an inquiry into the incident. A comprehensive report will be compiled for the Coroner’s review.
