A school has honored Lilly Jones, a 14-year-old girl who is the subject of a murder inquiry following the discovery of a body on Monday.

Lilly, known for her kindness and bubbly nature, was remembered by Brynmawr Foundation School in Wales in a touching tribute today.

She was reported missing from Blaina in Blaenau Gwent on Saturday, and a body was subsequently located near Duffryn Park during the search for her, according to Wales Online.

While formal identification is pending, Gwent Police have informed Lilly’s family. A 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.

The head teacher of Brynmawr Foundation School expressed deep sorrow over Lilly’s passing, emphasizing her significant role within the school community.

The school, closed due to severe weather warnings, conveyed condolences to Lilly’s family, with support services available for affected students. The tribute highlighted Lilly’s character and the profound impact of her loss.

Residents in Blaina have been shocked by the incident, leaving flowers and tributes near Duffryn Park in memory of Lilly.

Brynmawr Foundation School also placed flowers at the police cordon, with a message reading “Always in our hearts.”

Reverend Liane Chalmers of St Peter’s Church, Blaina, offered a place for community members to remember Lilly, with attendees receiving comfort and support.

A fundraiser initiated to assist with Lilly’s funeral and memorial costs has raised over £12,000, aiming to provide her a fitting farewell.

Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Lilly’s death, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Gwent Police have involved the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in line with standard procedures, with further assessment pending.
