A family in mourning was shocked when the urn they purchased from Amazon to hold their grandmother’s ashes turned out to contain a disturbing surprise, marking their second unsettling encounter with human remains.
After the passing of their beloved matriarch, Dorthy Kupsis, at the age of 98 on May 27, the family sought a suitable vessel for her ashes. They thought they had found the perfect heart-shaped urn on Amazon, believing it to be a pristine container with no indication of anything unexpected inside.
Upon opening the urn, Ashleigh Wegner discovered it was slightly dusty. Unscrewing the back, she found that it still contained human remains. This unexpected sight left her shocked, grossed out, and uncomfortable.
Despite the appearance of newness, the presence of the ashes tainted the urn for the family, who felt it was not a proper final resting place for their grandmother. Ashleigh reached out to Amazon and received a refund after reporting the unusual situation. She also tried contacting the seller directly but did not receive a response, expressing concern about the possibility of the urn being resold unknowingly.
Interestingly, this was not the first time Ashleigh had encountered human remains. In a previous incident, she and her husband found abandoned ashes in an alley near their home. They handed them over to the authorities, who were able to locate the family but found that they were not interested in reclaiming the remains. Consequently, Ashleigh and her husband scattered those ashes in the Arizona mountains.
