Calls to Dismiss Tory Deputy Chair over Firebombing Jokes

Conservative Party member Kemi Badenoch has received calls to dismiss the party’s deputy chairman following controversial remarks he made regarding the firebombing of the Prime Minister’s residence on the anniversary of Jo Cox MP’s murder.

During a segment with Jeremy Kyle on Tuesday, Shadow Home Office Minister Matt Vickers made light of the attack on Keir Starmer’s properties and seemed to minimize Russian involvement. Vickers insinuated that the Prime Minister was effectively causing his own downfall, prompting laughter from Kyle during suggestive remarks about sexuality.

Responding to the incident, Deputy PM David Lammy criticized the senior Tory for seemingly endorsing homophobic comments and urged for his removal during a session of PMQs. Labour Party Chair Anna Turley condemned Vickers for joking about a serious attack on a fellow politician’s home, particularly on the day honoring the late Jo Cox.

Lammy also reprimanded the Tory deputy chair for his behavior, emphasizing the inappropriateness of joking about an arson attack on the Prime Minister’s home. The Commons chamber echoed with cries of “shame” as Lammy spoke out against the Tory MP.

In a separate development, two individuals, a Russia-linked Ukrainian and a Romanian, were found guilty of plotting property damage in a scheme orchestrated by a mysterious Russian-speaking figure known as El Money. The culprits were instructed to film the blazes for media coverage, posing a significant risk to residents at night.

In defense of Vickers, a Conservative spokesperson clarified that Vickers’ remarks on the show were within bounds and defended his conduct during the interview. The party reiterated its condemnation of the arson attack and expressed well wishes to the Prime Minister and his family.
