“England Fans Travel Cross-Country for World Cup Opener”

England supporters were making their way to Dallas using various modes of transportation ahead of the World Cup opener against Croatia. Fans from Spain, Scandinavia, and Australia were descending on Texas for the highly anticipated match. Sam Bannister, a 41-year-old from Leeds, was embarking on an overnight journey from Kansas City to Dallas, covering a distance of 500 miles to make it in time for the 3pm kick-off.

Fan groups estimated that around 10,000 England supporters would be present at the game and cautioned about the anticipated high temperatures during the match. Chris, accompanied by his friend Chris Thomas, both originally from Leeds, and now residing in Kansas City, were gearing up for the road trip. Chris, known for selling traditional British pies with a street food company named ‘Brit Boy,’ will be joined by fellow Brit Kye Martey and his American wife Sandi on the journey.

George Smith, a finance worker and Exeter City fan living in San Diego, California, was preparing to attend the England group matches. Bringing along his son Charlie, 11, George also had plans to take his Mexican-born wife, Monica, to the Azteca stadium if England faced her native country in the Round of 16.

Having spent approximately $7,000 (£5,178) on tickets for himself and his family, George’s expenses could reach £12,000 depending on England’s progress in the tournament.
