Students and staff residing in a residential building in Manchester city center were evacuated on Monday afternoon due to a carbon monoxide leak, prompting emergency services to secure the area. The incident occurred at Bridgewater Heights on Great Marlborough Street around 1:15 pm, leading to the deployment of police, paramedics, and fire crews.
Following the evacuation, investigations commenced while gas monitors were utilized to assess the building’s safety. The scene was cordoned off, with visible bottles of water placed outside the premises. Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus and gas monitors, collaborated with Cadent Gas to ensure the well-being of residents and the surrounding area.
The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, stating that multiple fire engines from across the region responded to the carbon monoxide leak. The situation is ongoing with authorities working diligently to address the issue and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
