The top choice, with 18% of the vote, is: “I’m on a seafood diet… I see food and I eat it.” Following closely behind are jokes such as: “I only know 25 letters of the alphabet… I don’t know y”, “Two guys walked into a bar. The third guy ducked”, and “Yesterday I was washing the car with my son. He said, ‘Dad, can’t you just use a sponge?'”
Although dad jokes can be polarizing, a majority of respondents stated that they appreciate them. Over half of those surveyed by Bloom & Wild mentioned that their fathers are among the funniest individuals they know.
Furthermore, nearly one in five respondents mentioned that their fathers have the ability to lift their spirits, regardless of how challenging their day has been. Additionally, 14% of participants believe that their father’s sense of humor is incomparable.
It’s widely acknowledged that every great dad joke comes with a tinge of embarrassment. Approximately 19% of individuals confessed that their fathers often chuckle at their own jokes, while 16% find themselves frequently rolling their eyes at the predictability of dad puns.
The research also highlighted that dads are valued for more than just their comedic timing, with 21% of respondents describing their father as their “rock.”
As Father’s Day approaches, almost 30% of individuals are planning to gift their dads with thoughtful presents. Popular gift choices include a bottle of whisky (13%), craft beer or ale (12%), a personalized T-shirt (11%), and a bag of favorite sweets (10%).
