Tragic Plane Crash in Butler, Missouri Claims 12 Lives

A tragic plane crash in Butler, Missouri has resulted in the loss of 11 skydivers and the pilot, totaling 12 fatalities. The incident occurred on Sunday morning when a private aircraft departing from Butler Memorial Airport inexplicably turned back before crashing near Business 49 Highway, as confirmed by a Bates County Emergency Management spokesperson.

Among the victims, 11 were skydivers, and the remaining individual was the plane’s pilot. Unfortunately, all occupants onboard perished in the crash. Responding to the emergency, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Federal Aviation Administration, and National Transportation Safety Board personnel are at the site conducting investigations and searching for any potential skydivers who may have jumped before the tragedy.

Local authorities anticipate an extended investigation period as they seek to uncover the circumstances leading to the crash and clear the wreckage. As a result, Business 49 Highway lanes near the airport have been closed by the Bates County Sheriff’s Office in both directions indefinitely, prompting drivers to find alternative routes.

A statement by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on X informed the public of their presence at the scene, collaborating with local law enforcement to address the fatal plane crash. The initial reports suggest that all 12 occupants have tragically lost their lives, with further updates forthcoming.
