Fatal Collision on Lanzarote: Two Killed, Multiple Injured

Two individuals have tragically lost their lives in a collision involving a TUI tourist bus and three vehicles on the popular vacation destination of Lanzarote.

Following the harrowing incident on the LZ-2 highway in the southwestern part of the island, two other persons, including a young child, were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Images from the crash site depict significant damage to the TUI bus, with its front extensively impacted and its windshield shattered, alongside the mangled remnants of a car.

The deceased victims were identified as an Italian couple who were passengers in one of the cars along with an eight-year-old child. Among the eight injured individuals were the five-year-old child and a 36-year-old bus passenger.

Emergency responders, including local law enforcement, Civil Guard, paramedics, and firefighters, swiftly responded to the scene upon receiving reports of the collision on the road connecting Playa Blanca resort with Yaiza town just before 7:45 pm the previous day.

An emergency services spokesperson confirmed the fatalities of a man and a woman in the crash. Additionally, a five-year-old child with a moderate elbow injury was transported to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for further medical care.

The initial reports indicated a collision involving three cars and a bus. Firefighters secured the area, extricated the trapped victims, and provided necessary aid.

It was disclosed that eight passengers, including the driver, were onboard the bus during the incident. The deceased couple in the car were believed to be Italian nationals residing in Lanzarote. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the crash’s cause, with ongoing efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
