Lloyds Banking Group has revealed intentions to shut down an additional 79 branches within the next year. This latest wave of closures will affect 31 Lloyds Bank branches and 48 Halifax locations, adding to the previously announced closure of 95 branches earlier this year.
Following these closures, Lloyds Banking Group will be left with 531 branches across the country. The north-west and south-east regions of England will experience significant impact, with 12 branches earmarked for closure in each area. Additionally, 10 branches in London are also slated for closure.
The banking group disclosed that over three-quarters of the branches set to close are situated within a mile of another Lloyds Banking Group site, while 95% have an alternative branch within five miles. A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group emphasized the availability of various banking options, including Community Bankers, the Post Office, PayPoint, as well as their apps and 24/7 messaging service, providing customers with increased choice and convenience.
