“Britain Braces for Record-Breaking Early Summer Heatwave”

Britain is preparing for another spell of early summer heat in the coming days, as per meteorologists. Weather forecasts indicate that temperatures could reach up to 26C in parts of southern and eastern England, with 14 counties set to experience the hottest conditions. The latest charts from ECMWF predict the development of high pressure over much of the UK by June 15, leading to calm and sunny weather across many regions.

Normally, temperatures in early June in the UK rarely surpass 20C. However, the lingering high pressure system outside the UK, which caused temperatures to soar in May, has set the stage for potentially record-breaking heat in June. The country witnessed its hottest-ever May day, with temperatures reaching 35.1C in Kew Gardens, southwest London. Meteorologists anticipate a similar weather pattern for June.

Recent maps for June suggest that the warmest air will be concentrated in the South East of England, East Anglia, and parts of the Midlands, while Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to be slightly cooler. Temperature projections from WXCharts indicate highs of 22C to 24C spanning from the Midlands to eastern England, with some areas in the South East, including Greater London, possibly hitting 25C or 26C, making them the hottest spots in the country.

The Met Office’s mid-range forecast hints at a shift towards higher pressure and more settled conditions, particularly in the southern regions. Multiple locations in these counties are projected to experience temperatures ranging from 24C to 26C, with minimal or no rainfall expected in many areas.

The counties likely to experience the warmest temperatures include Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, and Oxfordshire.
