UK Man Dies in Fuerteventura Helicopter Rescue

A man from the UK passed away in Fuerteventura after a helicopter rescue from the sea. The incident occurred at Playa de La Escalera, near El Cotillo in the northern part of the Canary Island. Emergency services responded to a call around 5:30 pm on Thursday reporting two individuals in distress in the water near the popular beach in the municipality of La Oliva.

The man was located by rescuers from the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) helicopter. Upon rescue, it was discovered that he was in cardiac arrest. First responders immediately initiated CPR while transferring him to a nearby landing site. The second swimmer managed to exit the sea unaided and received medical attention on the beach.
