A man has been arrested for assaulting an emergency room doctor during the night shift at a hospital in London. The doctor, aged in his 50s, sustained several stab wounds while on duty at Hillingdon Hospital in the western part of the city. Paramedics provided immediate care at the hospital on Pield Heath Road before transferring the doctor to a major trauma center for further treatment.
The suspect was apprehended by the Metropolitan Police, who were present at the hospital for an unrelated incident. Identified as Mahdi Abdullahi, a 27-year-old resident of Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, he was taken into custody and subsequently charged with causing serious bodily harm with intent. Abdullahi appeared in front of Uxbridge magistrates and faced additional charges of possessing a dangerous weapon and theft of knives.
Following the court appearance, Abdullahi was remanded in custody pending a further hearing scheduled for Friday at the same court. The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting and reassuring its staff, condemning any form of violence or aggression as unacceptable.
