A father in Santa Clarita, California, shared the harrowing incident where his three-year-old daughter, Addy, was bitten by a venomous snake hidden beneath an Amazon package. Manuel Barajas recounted that Addy discovered a gift for her outside their home and was bitten on her left hand by a Southern Pacific rattlesnake nestled under the parcel as she picked it up. Addy’s mother, Lynn, promptly took her to first responders at a nearby supermarket, who then rushed her to the hospital for antivenom treatment.
Addy spent two nights in a pediatric intensive care unit and received multiple doses of antivenom, showing significant improvement since the incident. Barajas expressed gratitude for her recovery, mentioning that she is currently about 70 percent healed with bruising on her bitten hand. Despite Addy’s positive progress, she continues to question why the snake bit her.
Barajas, who was away on business when the snake attack occurred, hurried back home to support his family. The family now faces substantial medical expenses for Addy’s hospitalization, antivenom therapy, and ICU stay. Barajas also missed a week of work while caring for his loved ones post-incident.
