“Woman Uncovers Husband’s Poisoning Plot”

A young woman was rushed to the hospital and given a dire prognosis, only to later uncover a shocking secret her husband had been keeping. Hannah Pettey, 25, had been unwell for six months, confined to her bed in the days leading up to her hospitalization. Concerned about her deteriorating health, she contacted her mother Nicole, who then took her to see a doctor. Initially, medical staff did not detect anything unusual until Hannah insisted that her condition was critical. On January 18, 2022, she suffered a seizure and remained unconscious for two days, leading doctors to induce a coma and conduct tests to determine the cause of her illness.

Nicole, speaking to CBS News, recounted the distressing news she received from doctors, revealing that Hannah was on the brink of death due to severe malnutrition caused by a significant amount of lead in her body. After an agonizing eight-day wait, Hannah, hailing from Alabama, was informed that she had an alarming level of lead contamination throughout her body, including in her stomach and bones.

Medical experts suspected foul play as it seemed unlikely that Hannah could have ingested such a high amount of lead accidentally. The police launched an investigation into Hannah’s husband, Brian Mann, and Nicole. Shockingly, it was uncovered that Mann had been poisoning his wife. Despite Hannah’s belief in Mann’s kindness during her illness, he had been surreptitiously administering tainted vitamins to her.

Following her recovery, Hannah initially considered reconciling with her husband but ultimately decided to proceed with a divorce after police intervention. She also cooperated with authorities to delve into Mann’s actions, discovering that he had taken out life insurance policies on her years before their marriage, with additional policies taken out while she was hospitalized, totaling £3 million in potential payouts upon her death.

Further investigation revealed Mann’s involvement in constructing an X-ray machine with lead in his practice, implicating a contractor who assisted in the process. Mann was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in August 2025. Despite his conviction, Mann maintains his innocence and shifts blame to Nicole for allegedly poisoning Hannah, a claim both women vehemently deny.
