“Storm Bram Causes Chaos in UK: Flights Canceled, Power Outages Reported”

A pilot faced a challenging situation while trying to land a private plane at Belfast City Airport in Northern Ireland amidst the powerful Storm Bram. Video footage captured the aircraft struggling against the fierce winds, forcing the pilot to abort the landing just before touchdown due to the hazardous conditions.

In Dublin Airport, Storm Bram has disrupted air travel with 73 flights canceled by various airlines since midday, affecting both inbound and outbound journeys. More flight disruptions are expected as wind speeds are anticipated to increase further across Ireland.

The storm has resulted in power outages for over 4,000 homes in the UK, with the National Grid reporting widespread electricity loss. The cause of the outages is yet to be officially confirmed, but it is believed to be linked to the severe winds affecting the northern and western regions of the country.

Significant power cuts have been reported in the south-west, Wales, Midlands, and Northern Ireland, with several postcodes experiencing outages. The disruption is attributed to adverse weather conditions damaging the power network, as indicated by the Northern Ireland Electricity Networks website.

An amber ‘risk to life’ weather warning issued by the Met Office for gales of up to 90mph in north-west Scotland has been extended to cover a broader area. The warning now includes inland regions and has been prolonged until 03:00 GMT on Wednesday, with wind speeds expected to peak at 70-80mph and gusts exceeding 90mph in exposed western areas.
