“Prisoner Escapes from Derbyshire Jail, Public Urged to Stay Vigilant”

A prisoner serving an indefinite term for causing grievous bodily harm has fled from a prison in Derbyshire, triggering a large-scale search operation. Ethan Black, aged 36, managed to escape from HMP Sudbury by scaling the perimeter fence on the evening of December 17. He had been incarcerated since 2006 following a conviction at Warrington Crown Court for a serious assault.

Indeterminate sentences have no set release date and are imposed when the court deems the individual to pose a threat to public safety. Black is described as approximately 5ft 8ins tall, slim, with brown hair, blue eyes, and a distinctive “EFC” tattoo on his right arm.

Authorities have warned that Black has connections to various locations including Widnes in Cheshire, Dudley, Liverpool, Grimsby, and Hastings. The public is advised not to approach him but to report any sightings to Derbyshire Constabulary through their website, Facebook page, or by calling 101. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to CrimeStoppers at 0800 555 111 or through their website.
