The London Underground is experiencing significant disruptions this evening due to suspensions and delays affecting multiple lines. The Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, District, Piccadilly, and Weaver lines are all encountering severe delays, while the Bakerloo and District lines are partially suspended. Additionally, minor delays are reported on the Central and Victoria lines.
The disruptions are believed to be caused by a points failure at Aldgate, a signal failure at Liverpool Street, and faulty trains at Fulham Broadway and Finsbury Park. Transport for London (TfL) has provided an update indicating that seven lines still face minor delays, while all other lines are operating normally.
Two separate signal failures have occurred in London, one near King’s Cross and the other in the Aldgate/Liverpool Street area. TfL has stated that engineers are striving to restore regular services as quickly as possible and has issued apologies to customers for the inconvenience caused.
Although severe delays were earlier reported on the Piccadilly line, the situation has improved. However, minor delays persist between Acton Town and Uxbridge/Heathrow Terminals due to a previous signal failure at King’s Cross.
A signal failure in the London Liverpool Street area, which was temporarily fixed, has resurfaced, necessitating the closure of some lines running to and from the station. National Rail has scheduled repair work to address the issue overnight.
Presently, only minor delays are affecting the District line following an earlier faulty train incident at Fulham Broadway, which previously caused severe delays. Efforts are underway to rectify the disrupted services on the London Underground network this evening.
In response to the disruptions, a TfL spokesperson expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to commuters, attributing the disruptions to signal failures at Aldgate and King’s Cross, as well as faulty trains at Finsbury Park and Fulham Broadway. They reassured that engineers are working diligently to normalize services as soon as possible.
The disturbances are attributed to a points failure at Aldgate, a signal failure at Liverpool Street, and faulty trains at Fulham Broadway and Finsbury Park, alongside an “operational incident” at a Bakerloo line depot.
