An 87-year-old woman has tragically passed away in a fatal collision, while three others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:55 pm on Friday on the A706 near Carriber Mill, close to Linlithgow, in Scotland. The crash involved a red Honda Civic and a silver Volkswagen T-Roc. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the elderly woman, a passenger in the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead.
The 21-year-old male driver of the Honda, the 64-year-old male driver of the Volkswagen, and a 63-year-old female passenger in the Volkswagen were all transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Following the collision, the road was shut down for eight hours to facilitate investigative procedures before reopening at around 2 am on Saturday, as per the Daily Record.
Sergeant Barry Sommerville urged any witnesses or individuals with potential dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. Specifically, authorities are interested in speaking with the driver of a Range Rover that was in the vicinity at the time of the crash.
Expressing condolences to the deceased woman’s loved ones, Sgt. Sommerville emphasized the ongoing nature of the crash investigation and appealed to motorists who may have information to reach out to the police. Individuals with relevant dashcam recordings are encouraged to review the footage for any pertinent details that could aid in the inquiry. In a separate incident, a woman had to be extricated from a vehicle and promptly taken to the hospital following a serious collision on Thursday. The emergency response teams were summoned to a significant traffic collision in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, at the intersection of Bolton Road and Eskdale Avenue around 8:30 pm. The crash involved two cars, resulting in the woman being rescued from one of the vehicles and receiving medical treatment. Additionally, four other individuals sustained injuries and received on-site care.
