Elderly Woman Fatally Struck in Asda Car Park

A woman aged 78 tragically lost her life in a car park accident at Asda, identified as Margaret Crichton from Oldham. The incident occurred on Greenfield Lane in Shaw, Oldham, prompting emergency services to respond to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a car around 6:50 pm. The driver, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

According to Greater Manchester Police, the fatal collision took place as the driver of a Peugeot Expert was leaving the car park and collided with Margaret as she was returning to her vehicle. Margaret Crichton sustained severe injuries and sadly passed away as a result of the accident.

Authorities are now working to locate Margaret’s family, believed to be in Manchester or Yorkshire.
