The family of Aria Thorpe has shared heartfelt tributes to the nine-year-old following her tragic death from a stabbing incident in Weston-super-Mare. The young girl passed away at a residence in the Mead Vale area around 6 pm on December 15. Shortly thereafter, a teenage boy was apprehended near Worle rail station, located less than half a mile from the crime scene.
The 15-year-old suspect has been formally charged with Aria’s murder and made an appearance at Bristol Crown Court. He has been detained and is scheduled for the next court appearance on March 16.
Aria’s grieving family fondly remembered her as a “beautiful soul” who enjoyed singing, dancing, and dressing up. They expressed profound sorrow, stating, “our hearts are shattered in a way we never thought possible.”
Describing Aria as a cheerful and radiant child, her maternal family members shared a tribute expressing their devastation over the loss. Just a fortnight before the tragic incident, Aria celebrated her ninth birthday with a Kpop Demon Hunters themed party. She resided in a three-bedroom housing association property with her mother Victoria Hull, who works as a hairdresser. The evening prior to her passing, she excitedly discussed her Christmas wishlist with a close friend.
Aria’s father, Tom Thorpe, described her as a source of joy who effortlessly brought smiles to others. In a poignant tribute, he expressed deep sorrow over her absence and reminisced about their cherished moments together. He highlighted her courageous and kind-hearted nature, emphasizing her ability to spread happiness and affection to those around her.
