A former child star from Broadway tragically passed away after being fatally stabbed. Imani Dia Smith, aged 26, was found deceased at her residence in New Jersey. Smith, known for her role in “The Lion King” on Broadway, was discovered at home with stab wounds and was later pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
According to a statement released by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, a man named Jordan Jackson-Small was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to the incident. Authorities revealed that Jackson-Small, aged 35 and from Edison, had acquaintance with Smith prior to the tragic event, indicating that it was not a random act of violence.
Jackson-Small was taken into custody without resistance and is facing charges including first-degree murder, second-degree endangerment of a child, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. He is currently detained at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Centre pending a pre-trial detention hearing.
