A British vacationer was viciously attacked with a knife outside a beach club on a renowned party island. Louis Johe Jarvie sustained a knife injury to his arm during the assault in Cherng Talay, Phuket, in the early hours of the morning. The 34-year-old was promptly transported to Thalang hospital, where he is currently recuperating.
According to the police statement, witnesses reported seeing a large foreign individual stabbing the British victim in the arm. Although the victim’s condition has improved, he is not yet ready to provide a statement. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the assailant.
Law enforcement is appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Phuket attracts millions of tourists annually, with a recent study revealing a striking ratio of 118 tourists per local resident on the island.
In a separate incident over the weekend, a 37-year-old British father tragically drowned while swimming with his partner at a crowded beach on the island. Jason Mark Lambert, hailing from Ipswich, was swept away by a strong wave in a rip current at Freedom Beach on Saturday morning. Despite efforts by fellow beachgoers, Lambert, who had arrived in the country with his family on November 19, could not be revived. Fortunately, two other swimmers caught in the same current were successfully rescued.
Chariya Thaweerat Howells, a witness aged 31, described the chaotic scene where people initially rushed to aid two distressed swimmers before realizing a third was in trouble. She recounted how a Thai man deployed a kayak to rescue the struggling tourists, bringing them safely to shore. However, the third man was found unresponsive upon reaching the beach, indicating he had been submerged for a significant period.
