Search and rescue authorities have located an aircraft in the region of Kawartha Lakes, where a pilot went missing last week. The Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), responsible for coordinating search and rescue operations in Ontario, announced the discovery of the plane on Wolf Lake in Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, situated approximately a 45-minute drive north of the Kawartha Lakes municipality.
The case has been handed over to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as a missing person’s investigation, as stated by the JRCC. Although not explicitly mentioned, it is implied that the plane found may belong to the missing pilot, a 73-year-old individual identified by authorities as David.
According to Durham police, David departed from Oshawa Airport in the aircraft at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and was scheduled to return by 9:30 a.m. He typically flies in the vicinity south of Kawartha Lakes township and north of Lake Scugog.
Previously, Ontario Provincial Police described the plane as a small blue homemade aircraft bearing the inscription “FOFZ” on its tail. David, an experienced pilot standing at five feet seven inches tall with a slim physique, is characterized by his black grey hair and moustache.
