A tragic incident unfolded in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region as a Russian missile strike resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals in the village of Pechenihy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, emphasizing the civilian nature of the target area, which included a post office and local shops. Images shared by Zelenskyy depicted the destruction caused by the attack, with buildings in ruins and vehicles engulfed in flames.
The assault left 17 others injured, as reported by Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the affected region. The strike inflicted damage on multiple private buildings, a café, a post office, a store, and numerous vehicles, further highlighting the extent of the devastation.
While there was no immediate response from Russia regarding the incident, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office indicated that the attack involved the use of two small Banderol cruise missiles. Local sources revealed that the missile strikes specifically targeted the central area of the village where key establishments like the café and shops are situated.
Simultaneously, Ukraine launched a significant drone offensive against Moscow and its surroundings, deploying 620 drones during the early hours of the morning. Russian forces intercepted 180 drones over the Moscow region, with Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirming the drone downings and subsequent emergency response efforts. The targeted drones caused damage to various facilities near Moscow, including a warehouse belonging to the Russian e-commerce company Wildberries.
In response to the drone attacks, Russia warned Britain of repercussions for allegedly supplying drones to Ukraine for use in attacks on Russian territory. The Russian embassy in London issued a statement expressing concerns over British involvement in the conflict and the support provided to Ukraine’s military efforts.
Britain’s Defence Ministry refrained from confirming the use of British-made drones in the attacks. However, they reiterated their commitment to assisting Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s aggression, referencing a significant drone supply pledge made earlier in the year.
