“Dolly Parton’s Iconic Journey Comes to Broadway”

Dolly Parton’s remarkable journey from poverty to success has been a source of inspiration for her music, a popular theme park, a podcast, and now a musical headed for Broadway later this year.

Titled “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” the production promises to authentically depict Dolly’s life through her own words and the influential songs that have shaped her experiences. In a video announcement, the 80-year-old icon emphasized the musical’s focus on her true origins, losses, loves, and personal growth rather than just glitz and glamour.

The musical will feature a blend of new compositions created specifically for the show and some of Dolly’s most beloved hits, such as “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5.”

Scheduled to kick off on December 7 in New York City, the performances are slated to run until November 21, 2027. Parton expressed her enthusiasm, calling this opportunity a long-awaited dream, as she approaches her seventh decade in the music industry.

Having premiered in Nashville last summer to sold-out audiences, “Dolly” received overwhelming praise for its emotional resonance with viewers and the genuine connection they felt with the legendary artist. Director Bartlett Sher highlighted the deep impact Dolly has had on people’s lives, bringing joy and inspiration to countless fans.

The musical aims to showcase a raw and unfiltered portrayal of Dolly’s life, delving deeper into her personal journey beyond the glitz and rhinestones that often define her public image. Tickets for the show will go on sale to the public starting Friday, July 10.
