CBC has secured an extended five-year broadcast agreement with The Curling Group, promising an expanded coverage of Canadian curling. The deal will see over 300 hours of combined television broadcasts on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
A significant aspect of the agreement is the enhanced coverage of the Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will return to CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Featuring six mixed-gender franchises from across the globe, the Rock League’s second season will host events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled Thursday through Sunday.
Moreover, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, starting in October. The coverage will include three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. Championship finals on Sundays will be covered by Sportsnet, while CBC will also broadcast select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive curling coverage history, strengthening its position around major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “CBC has a long history of curling coverage. We’re excited to share another season of Rock League with audiences across Canada.”
The partnership is equally beneficial for The Curling Group, expanding the national viewership for both the Grand Slam and Rock League. Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group, described the agreements as a pivotal moment for the sport.
