Forecasts indicate the possibility of 37C in the far south-east on Thursday, with 35C in East Anglia, 36C in London, and 34C in the Midlands. Southern regions could hit 36C on Friday, maintaining temperatures above 30C across England, marking another official heatwave.
Peak temperatures in Scotland and Northern Ireland are projected to be in the low to mid-20s during this period, while parts of Wales could reach 29-30C. Temperature anomaly maps for next week show the UK in deep red and orange, signifying temperatures rising well above the seasonal norm.
The Met Office anticipates “turning hot in the south” over the weekend and describes Monday as mostly dry with very warm to hot temperatures. Towards the latter part of the week, there is a higher likelihood of frontal systems or thundery spells affecting southern and eastern areas.
Despite potential fluctuations, the Met Office expects temperatures to stay above average, especially in the south, possibly becoming very warm or hot. The BBC also suggests a return to notable warmth next week, particularly in England and Wales, with temperatures likely surpassing 30C in some areas. Scotland might experience temperatures closer to the seasonal average at times.
