A man described as ‘heavily armed’ was apprehended at Donald Trump’s golf course in California just days before the President was scheduled to hold a fundraising event there. Identified as Jeanine John Taele, aged 38, he was taken into custody by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after being observed taking photos and monitoring security measures at the golf establishment around 3:30 pm on Sunday.
The upcoming Tuesday event is a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner that Trump is set to host at the golf club located in the Rancho Palos Verdes neighborhood. Upon his arrest, law enforcement officers discovered a loaded magazine in Taele’s possession, as detailed by the LA Times. Additionally, during a search of his vehicle in the parking lot, authorities uncovered a loaded pistol along with more ammunition.
Further investigations led to the discovery of additional weapons and ammunition, including a .45 caliber pistol, body armor, and high-capacity magazines at Taele’s residence in Downey, California. Notably, police also found several notebooks containing troubling statements and two radio devices.
Taele was taken into custody on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing illegal ammunition, notably hollow point bullets. Law enforcement officials are currently conducting an inquiry and have affirmed there is no substantial threat to the public. Furthermore, the 38-year-old is also being probed in connection with a robbery in the nearby El Segundo area.
