London is set to experience highs of 34C, while the Midlands can expect temperatures around 32C, the north-west around 29C, and Cardiff around 27C. Cooler conditions are anticipated in Northern Ireland and Scotland, with Belfast and Glasgow likely to reach highs of 21C, according to the Met Office.
Weather models, like the GFS, are showing a resurgence in temperatures for next week, with projections of over 30C on Wednesday. Western England might witness highs of 33C, Wales 32C, and Yorkshire up to 31C.
Thursday could see temperatures hitting 34C across eastern, central, and southern England, extending above 30C in most parts of England and Wales. The trend continues with the possibility of 34C highs in western areas on Friday and in the south-east on Saturday.
Maps indicating temperature anomalies for the upcoming week show England and Wales shaded in dark red, indicating temperatures well above the seasonal average. The GFS model suggests that 15 counties in England could experience temperatures exceeding 34C.
The Met Office anticipates temperatures to remain above average in the coming week, with a potential for “thundery interludes” in southern regions. By mid-August, a shift in weather patterns might bring more Atlantic frontal systems or thundery episodes to southern areas, although the intensity of rainfall could vary.
While temperatures are expected to stay higher than usual, especially in the south, the Met Office does not foresee the extreme heat witnessed in recent weeks.
