A male suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the tragic death of a nine-year-old girl who was discovered with severe injuries at a business park.
Authorities from Police Scotland disclosed that the incident occurred at the Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath during the early hours of the day. The young girl was swiftly transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she later passed away. Meanwhile, her family is receiving support from specialized police personnel.
Law enforcement has initiated an inquiry into the matter. A 35-year-old man has been apprehended in relation to the girl’s demise, which is being treated as suspicious.
Detective Superintendent Nicky McGovern detailed, “At approximately 12:02 am on Monday, August 3, 2026, law enforcement responded to a call at Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath after discovering the nine-year-old girl with severe injuries.”
He added, “She was transferred to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. A 35-year-old male has been detained in connection with her passing, which is under investigation as suspicious. The family is receiving support from specialized officers as inquiries persist.”
