More than 180 regions are expected to experience rainfall on Tuesday, interrupting the sunny summer weather across the country temporarily. The Met Office has predicted showers in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with most parts of England also likely to see precipitation.
The latest forecast, released at 4 am on Monday, indicates heavy rain in the north with a chance of thunderstorms, while the south will have scattered showers and possible thunderstorms. Despite the wet conditions, temperatures will stay high in drier areas like the southeast, reaching up to 28°C. Meteorologists anticipate a return to sunshine after a couple of rainy days.
The weather outlook remains unsettled in the north for the upcoming days, with rainy spells or showers expected. Southern regions may initially experience showers but are forecasted to become drier by Thursday.
Rainfall is forecasted to affect 181 council areas nationwide, including all regions in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. In England, 116 out of 153 council areas are likely to see some rain. The heaviest downpours are anticipated in the northern parts of England, with over 32mm of rain expected in the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire.
Significant rain is also expected in Cornwall, Devon, Newcastle, and the Scottish Borders on Tuesday evening. The rain will come in the form of a moving cloud band followed by scattered showers.
Temperatures will remain typical for August, with Belfast expecting 23°C, Cardiff and Manchester 25°C, Edinburgh 20°C, and London warmer at 28°C.
