The blaze at Dunwich Heath has ravaged wildlife habitats, with recovery expected to take up to 25 years after it consumed an area equivalent to about 140 football pitches near the Sizewell B nuclear power plant.
Residents evacuated from a local caravan site have been granted a brief window to retrieve their belongings amidst the fast-moving and unstable situation, as emergency services escalate efforts with additional pumps and a helicopter.
Despite the fire not affecting operations at Sizewell B power station, a wildfire near Colchester was swiftly extinguished with the assistance of dozens of firefighters.
Furthermore, Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service is deploying a helicopter to Dunwich Heath, dropping 1,000 liters of seawater to aid firefighting efforts in challenging-to-access areas.
