After reaching a peak of 35C on Wednesday this week, the Met Office is predicting a decrease in temperatures leading up to the weekend.
This week marked the fourth instance of a heatwave in 2026. Future weather modeling suggests that a fifth heatwave could be on the horizon.
According to the GFS weather model, temperatures are expected to rise again on Sunday next week, with a possibility of reaching highs of 31C in Gloucestershire and 29-30C in various western and southern regions.
Subsequently, data indicates that temperatures could soar to 34C in the south-east of England on August 10, particularly in the vicinity of London. Areas in south-eastern England may experience highs of 32C, while the Midlands could see temperatures rise to 30-31C.
The GFS model also forecasts potentially scorching conditions on August 11, with highs of 32C possible in East Anglia and Essex.
During this period, temperature anomaly maps show dark red shading over England and Wales, indicating temperatures are expected to surpass the seasonal average significantly.
These maps highlight that 15 counties in England may witness temperatures of 32C or higher.
The Met Office anticipates that temperatures will return to near-average levels across most of the UK starting tomorrow.
The forecast indicates that Saturday will begin cool for many, with predominantly dry weather and occasional sunny spells, though isolated showers are possible.
Looking ahead to August 3 to August 12, the forecast suggests potential warmer periods, especially in the south, alongside spells of widespread and heavy rain with strong winds.
Fortunately, any forthcoming heat is not expected to be as intense as recent weeks.
