Authorities are investigating the death of a woman in a secluded cottage as a homicide, while the demise of a man at the same location is currently labeled as “unexplained.”
Emergency services discovered the bodies of Stacy Mair, 35, and a 43-year-old man at Corsliehill Road in Houston, Johnstone, after responding to concerns for their well-being on the morning of July 27.
Initially classified as unexplained, Police Scotland has now confirmed that Stacy’s death is being treated as a murder, with a post-mortem examination scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland stated, “The fatal incident involving 35-year-old Stacy Mair in Houston is being investigated as a murder. Upon receiving a report of concern for an individual in the Corsliehill Road vicinity of Houston at approximately 7.50 am on Monday, July 27, emergency services discovered the deceased woman and man nearby. Following a recent post-mortem examination, Stacy Mair’s death is now considered a homicide.”
The investigation into the man’s death is still ongoing and is classified as unexplained pending further post-mortem results. Detectives from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team are actively conducting inquiries alongside local officers to establish the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.
There is currently no indication of any external involvement or threat to public safety at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young of the Major Investigation Team expressed sympathy for the affected families and assured that support is being provided by specialized officers during this challenging period.
