“Teen Dies in Tragic YMCA Camp Accident”

A tragic incident occurred at YMCA Camp Widjiwagan in Antioch, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy named Camden Robert Callihan. The incident took place on July 27 while campers were on a hike and encountered a fallen tree leaning against another tree on the trail. Despite warnings from staff not to touch the tree, Callihan’s friend inadvertently caused it to fall on him while walking under it.

Following the accident, Callihan was swiftly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has classified his death as accidental. The police report indicates that camp counselors and other campers managed to lift the tree off Callihan and provided immediate emergency care on-site.

YMCA Camp Widjiwagan has not yet responded to inquiries from The Mirror regarding the incident. The details surrounding the tragic event have deeply saddened the community, emphasizing the importance of safety measures during outdoor activities.
