“Two Firefighters Die Battling Blaze Near Bordeaux Airport”

Flights were canceled at Bordeaux Airport due to a large fire breakout nearby, resulting in the tragic deaths of two firefighters who were battling the flames. The fire originated in a building on Avenue Roland Garros, close to the airport’s parking area, around 2:30 pm. It quickly spread over approximately one hectare of land.

France’s Interior Minister, Laurent Nuñez, confirmed the fatalities of the two firefighters during their efforts to extinguish the significant blaze. Although flight operations at the airport are gradually resuming after a temporary halt, passengers are advised to verify their flight statuses before heading to the airport.

Firefighters are still present at the scene as the fire continues to emit dense black smoke into the atmosphere. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences for the fallen firefighters in a statement, acknowledging their sacrifice and the support of the nation.

Moreover, Laurent Nuñez praised the bravery and dedication of the firefighters in protecting the people of France. The country has been facing severe challenges from a deadly heatwave leading to wildfires, a public health emergency, and a substantial death toll exceeding 2,000 individuals.
