A disturbance arose at Barcelona airport when a man began shouting “jihadist slogans” and threw a backpack to the ground, causing panic among holidaymakers. Witnesses reported that people started running to safety, and two individuals needed medical attention for panic attacks after the incident.
Airport authorities swiftly intervened, apprehending the man with the assistance of an airport worker. Bomb disposal experts from the Civil Guard’s elite bomb squad unit, TEDAX, were called in to inspect the backpack for explosives, although they ultimately did not need to intervene.
The situation was brought under control, and normal operations resumed gradually following the alarming episode, which took place at the airport’s T2 terminal around 7:30 pm the previous evening.
