A man has been brought to court after an incident where law enforcement stated that a vehicle was driven “towards several individuals.” The event occurred on Saturday night in Harbour Road, Skerries, located in north Dublin, resulting in injuries to four people, three of whom were teenagers.
Sean McGlone, aged 29 and residing at Beechwood Drive, Drogheda, made an appearance at Balbriggan District Court this morning. Detective Garda Ultan McElroy mentioned that McGlone was apprehended at his residence on Sunday and subsequently charged with reckless driving.
Authorities responded to a disturbance around 9.45 pm on Saturday when a group of youths gathered, leading to a confrontation. During this situation, a car was directed at multiple individuals, as stated by the police.
Gardaà confirmed that three teenagers, comprising two females and one male, were taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of injuries deemed non-life-threatening. Another male was also reported to have been harmed in the incident.
Although law enforcement did not oppose bail, they requested certain restrictions to be imposed. In collaboration with McGlone’s legal counsel, barrister Pearse Collins, Justice Stephanie Coggins instructed him to report to Drogheda Garda Station three times a week, stay away from Balbriggan and Skerries, refrain from contacting potential witnesses, and abstain from alcohol.
Collins mentioned that McGlone worked as a van driver in Duleek, earning around 700 euros weekly and traveling nationwide for work. The conditions of bail excluded the M1 road.
During the brief hearing, the accused, donning a green t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms, remained silent. He was granted bail upon providing a personal bond of €5,000 with a cash deposit of €1,000, with a court appearance scheduled for September 23.
