Let’s face it – hardly anyone finds pleasure in cleaning the bathroom, but the task is an unavoidable necessity. Despite its importance, the chore remains a tedious one for many.
Living in a two-person household, I am constantly surprised by how quickly chaos ensues in the bathroom. The area around the sink, in particular, requires daily attention due to the frequent use that leads to the accumulation of toothpaste smudges, stray eyelashes, soap residue, and various other dirt.
Keeping the sink clean is an ongoing mission, and it’s only fair to expect a cleaning product that not only works effectively but also has a pleasant scent as a small reward for the effort put in. It should be capable of tackling tough stains and leaving a shiny, spotless finish.
This week, I tested two cost-effective multipurpose cleaners head-to-head to see which one performed better on the bathroom sink.
Although I frequently use Zoflora and the Pink Stuff spray in my home, I had never tried them on the sink before. Both products are budget-friendly – Zoflora cost me around £2.70 at Home Bargains, while the Pink Stuff was an even more affordable option at approximately 99p. Both claim to address a wide range of cleaning challenges.
While each had its advantages, one emerged as the winner. Here’s how the comparison went.
Starting with the Pink Stuff spray, which I had bought earlier in the year specifically to clean my kitchen sink and had been impressed with its performance. I had high hopes for its effectiveness on the bathroom sink.
It is advertised as being effective against grease and grime, delivering a shiny clean result. This claim held true when I used it on the draining board, and the pleasant scent was an added bonus.
The application was simple – just spray it on the sink and taps (including the areas behind them that are often overlooked) and wipe with a cloth. It effortlessly removed hair and toothpaste stains without the need for vigorous scrubbing. After wiping the basin and taps, a quick dry with a separate cloth revealed impressive results.
However, the scent of the Pink Stuff spray dissipates quickly after use, which could be considered its main drawback.
A few days later, I turned to Zoflora to tackle the dirty sink. This product gained popularity during the pandemic, thanks to Mrs Hinch, and for good reason – its versatility. I have always found it reliable and keep a variety of it in my cupboard.
I have recently been using it to clean my floors, enjoying the lingering scent of Midnight Blooms. To use it effectively, one capful needs to be diluted in a spray bottle filled with water for certain applications.
Similar to the Pink Stuff, I sprayed Zoflora on the sink, let it sit briefly, and then wiped it off. It also left a shiny finish without requiring intense scrubbing, but in my opinion, Zoflora outshined the Pink Stuff.
The fragrance of Zoflora is distinct and luxurious, resembling a high-end perfume rather than a typical disinfectant. It’s no wonder Mrs Hinch’s followers stocked up on this product during the pandemic.
Not only does Zoflora smell delightful during use, but its fragrance lingers for hours afterward, a feature I highly appreciate in a cleaning product. The bathroom maintained a fresh scent long after the cleaning was done.
Moreover, being a disinfectant, Zoflora claims to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, making it a reliable choice for cleanliness. Available at around £2.70 at Home Bargains or <a aria-label="The RangeLink opens in a new
