The Duchess of Cambridge surprised Prince William with a kiss after they raised more than £1 million at a charity polo match. William, participating in the DMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup 2025 at Guards Polo Club, rode for the winning team while his wife cheered him on. This marked William’s 15th appearance in the competition, playing his usual defensive position and contributing a total of £15 million to various charities over the years.
The funds raised during the event will be split among 10 charities and causes supported by both William and Kate, aiding them in their essential endeavors. Kate awarded the cup and other accolades before the couple strolled hand in hand across the pitch. Additionally, this year, Kate’s patronage, the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, will receive a donation to support its new principal treatment center that will offer specialized cancer services to children in London and the South-East.
Gubby Ayida, the CEO of Evelina London, expressed deep gratitude for the donation, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to providing top-notch care for children battling cancer. The hospital aims to create a nurturing environment for these children and their families, ensuring they receive comprehensive support beyond medical treatment.
Furthermore, William’s long-standing support for The Passage, a homelessness charity, continues with this year’s contribution. The organization, which holds personal significance for William, is part of his efforts to address homelessness through the Homewards campaign. Mick Clarke, the CEO of The Passage, highlighted the importance of raising awareness and funds to combat homelessness, acknowledging the impact of events like the charity polo match in reaching new audiences.
Dr. Sue Barnes, CEO of the Wales Air Ambulance, expressed immense gratitude for the donation received, emphasizing the critical role of such support in sustaining their operations. She praised William’s dedication to the cause, noting his genuine interest and understanding of the organization’s work.
These charitable efforts not only provide financial assistance but also raise awareness about crucial social issues, demonstrating the royal family’s commitment to making a positive impact in various sectors.
