“Hotel Worker Enforces No-Reservation Policy on Sunbeds”

A hotel worker in Rhodes, Greece, was caught on camera removing towels and bags from reserved poolside loungers while guests were away at breakfast. The incident, captured by 19-year-old Lucie Hewes from the UK, showed a staff member enforcing the hotel’s no-reservation policy by clearing unattended sunbeds with personal items left on them.

According to Lucie, despite the hotel’s clear rule against saving sunbeds, many guests would lay out towels, hats, and bags before leaving for breakfast, only to find their belongings removed upon their return. Some guests were puzzled to discover their items missing, while others were displeased to see other vacationers occupying what they believed to be their designated loungers.

One woman confronted a pool staff member, expressing frustration that her belongings had been relocated, leaving her without a spot to sit. The staff member calmly reiterated the hotel’s policy, emphasizing that sunbeds could not be saved to ensure fairness for all guests.

Lucie shared that despite retrieving her belongings, the woman remained dissatisfied. The incident has reignited the ongoing debate over sunbed reservation practices, a common issue on British holidays abroad.

Lucie’s video documenting the incident garnered significant attention, with 538,000 views, 23,000 likes, and 294 comments. Viewers expressed support for the hotel’s actions, with one user commending the move and suggesting that all hotels should adopt a similar approach.

The incident follows another British holidaymaker’s controversial response to the sunbed dilemma. Tom Caunce made headlines for confessing to sprinkling itching powder on towels left on reserved loungers during his Majorca vacation, citing frustration with guests claiming prime poolside spots early in the morning and then leaving them unoccupied for hours.
