Father of Two Battling Rare Brain Cancer Receives Overwhelming Support

A father in his thirties has received devastating news that he may have less than twelve months left to live after experiencing difficulty writing his own name. Elliot Macdonald, a 35-year-old floor tiler, initially attributed his hand issues to his demanding job. However, his sister Lauren, a medical professional who previously fought Stage 4 melanoma, urged him to seek medical attention upon noticing alarming symptoms. Following a medical evaluation, Elliot was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer known for its rapid progression.

Despite the grim prognosis of surviving only 12 to 18 months, Elliot remains resolute in his determination to witness his children grow up. With the overwhelming support of his global network of friends who shared his story on social media platforms, Elliot’s chances have been bolstered. The community rallied together, raising nearly £160,000 through a GoFundMe campaign within days, enabling him to access advanced life-extending treatments.

Expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support, Elliot recounted his journey from noticing symptoms to receiving the life-altering diagnosis. He underwent brain surgery shortly after the diagnosis but encountered complications, leading to a seizure and subsequent surgery. Amidst the emotional turmoil, Elliot remains optimistic about exploring treatment options abroad, particularly in German clinics offering personalized therapies such as vaccines and immunotherapy.

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Elliot emphasized the importance of raising awareness about Glioblastoma and advocating for increased research funding. His wife Erica shared the family’s struggles and the overwhelming community support they have received in their time of need. Despite facing a daunting battle, Elliot remains determined to fight for more time with his family, underscoring the profound impact of the collective support he has received.

To support Elliot’s treatment journey, donations can be made through his GoFundMe page, with the hope of extending his precious time with his loved ones.
