Detectives are seeking assistance in locating the mother of a newborn infant discovered deceased in a warehouse in the Black Country. The body of the baby, believed to be female, was found in a refuse pile at an industrial site in Rowley Regis on Thursday morning.
According to West Midlands Police, the waste was unintentionally transported to the location on Station Road by a private waste operator on Wednesday. The operator operates in various regions, including the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and West Mercia, with no current connection to the incident.
Authorities are conducting investigations, including forensic examinations, to identify the infant and determine the cause of death. They are urgently seeking the mother of the infant out of concern for her well-being and potential need for medical attention.
A plea has been issued by the police for individuals who may have observed any unusual behavior in a loved one recently to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Kylie Westlake emphasized the importance of locating the mother promptly to provide necessary assistance.
Anyone with information on the mother’s identity is encouraged to step forward. A Major Incident Public Portal has been established for direct submission of information to the police.
