A plea has been made by a funeral director to the local community to attend the funeral of a man who passed away without any known family members.
Patrick McNally, a resident of West Belfast, peacefully passed away at a hospice in Northern Ireland recently. Described in an obituary as a “loving son” and “beloved brother,” Patrick’s funeral details were shared by Mallon Brothers Funeral Directors on social media, urging anyone who knew him to join the ceremony.
Due to Patrick’s lack of contact with his only surviving sibling, there are no relatives available to attend his funeral. The directors have thus asked the community to come together and support Patrick on his final journey.
In a message shared by the funeral directors, it was stated, “McNally Patrick, passed away peacefully at the N.I hospice on June 22, 2026, (formerly of 306 Glen Road). A cherished son of the late Mary and John, a beloved brother to Gerard, the late John-Joseph, and Bridget, Uncle, Cousin, and friend, RIP. Funeral arrangements will be provided. St Pio, pray for him.”
Expressing the sentiment that every individual deserves to be remembered and honored, the directors extended a heartfelt invitation to the people of West Belfast to attend Patrick’s funeral and bid him a proper farewell. They emphasized that even a brief presence from those who knew Patrick at any point in his life, whether as a neighbor, friend, colleague, or acquaintance, would ensure that his memory is honored with dignity and care.
The call to come together to give Patrick a respectful send-off conveys the message that every life holds value and every person occupies a place in the world. The directors expressed that no one should have to face their final journey alone.
