“Two Charged with Murder in Tragic Death of Infant”

Two individuals have been accused of murder in connection with the tragic death of an eight-week-old infant at a residence in Lincolnshire. Lincolnshire Police have charged 26-year-old Lauren Murgatroyd from Novak Place, Morecambe, and 26-year-old Liam Neve from Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, following an extensive investigation.

Law enforcement responded to a location in Bourne, Lincolnshire, on October 31, 2023, where the infant was discovered and subsequently taken to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to the injuries. Both Murgatroyd and Neve have been charged with murder, along with various other offenses, as confirmed by Lincolnshire Police on Tuesday evening (June 23).

Murgatroyd is also facing allegations of providing false information about birth, causing or allowing a child’s death, two counts of severe bodily harm under Section 18, and two counts of causing or allowing a child to endure serious physical harm. Neve is confronted with similar charges, in addition to two counts of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH).

Both accused individuals are scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today (June 24) according to reports. Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt of the Major Crime Unit expressed condolences to those affected by the tragic incident and emphasized the commitment to pursuing justice in memory of the deceased infant.

A statement from Lincolnshire Police released on June 23, 2026, announced the murder charges against Neve and Murgatroyd following the death of the eight-week-old baby in 2023. The incident, which took place in Bourne on October 31, 2023, led to the infant’s fatal outcome.
